Every desk working on day one

Small power, structured data cabling, lighting and controls coordinated with the build so nobody discovers a missing socket on the morning everyone moves in. The services are the part of a fit-out that has to be right first time, because they end up above ceilings, inside floor voids and behind partitions. All electrical work is carried out by qualified electricians and certificated properly, and the containment is set out with the ceiling grid rather than fought around it.

Questions

Asked and answered

How do we make sure every desk has power and data?

By setting the services out to the furniture plan rather than to a generic grid. Once the desk layout is agreed, floor boxes, poke-throughs and perimeter positions are drawn to it, with spare capacity allowed for the desks you will add later. Sockets get missed when the layout is decided after the electrician has finished, which is why we sequence it the other way round.

What data cabling should we install?

Cat6 is the sensible default for most offices and will comfortably run gigabit to the desk. Cat6A is worth it where you are running higher-bandwidth links, powering a lot of devices over the cable, or want a longer future-proofing horizon. We will give you a straight recommendation and the cost difference rather than defaulting to the most expensive option.

Do you handle the comms room and patching?

Yes. Cabinets, patch panels, tray, containment, labelling and the tidy termination of every outlet. Every link is tested and you get the test results at handover, which matters the first time something does not work and the question is whether it is the cable or the kit.

Is the electrical work certificated?

Yes. All electrical installation work is carried out by qualified electricians and certificated on completion, with the certificates and test results included in the handover information along with the as-installed drawings.

Can lighting controls actually reduce our energy bills?

Presence detection and daylight dimming genuinely cut consumption in offices, because a large share of lighting energy is spent lighting empty meeting rooms and window-line desks that already have daylight. The saving depends on your occupancy patterns and how the floor is zoned, and the sensible move is to zone it properly at design stage while it costs nothing to change.

What happens if we reorganise the desks later?

Perimeter trunking and floor boxes give you positions to work with, and allowing a little spare capacity at install is far cheaper than adding circuits later. If a bigger change comes, we can come back and alter it, and having the as-installed drawings from the original job makes that quick.
